Ubuntu Server Development Summary – 05 Sep 2017

Hello Ubuntu Server!

The purpose of this communication is to provide a status update and highlights for any interesting subjects from the Ubuntu Server Team. If you would like to reach the server team, you can find us at the #ubuntu-server channel on Freenode. Alternatively, you can sign up and use the Ubuntu Server Team mailing list.

Spotlight: cloud-init Summit

The cloud-init team recently had a two-day summit to meet with contributors to cloud-init from cloud providers and OS vendors to demo recent developments in cloud-init, resolve outstanding issues, and collect feedback on development and test processes as well as future features.

cloud-init and curtin

cloud-init

  • As a reminder, the cloud-init team has a mailing list that is subscribable if you have a Launchpad account.
  • No longer package upstart jobs in deb packages built with packages/bddeb.
  • Fix ec2 tests to avoid leaking unmocked urls to the internet past httpretty registered url.
  • Add nose-timer to py3 tox environments to better measure expensive tests
  • Added missing unit tests for oauthlib import error

curtin

  • Catch exception by curtin-log-print, causing failure to clean up tests (LP: #1714592)
  • Fix iSCSI tests as iscsi-targets do not quit session on shutdown (LP: #1713537)
